The Russian Revolutions (NCEA Level 2) Year 12

Author(s): George Bowen

History

After its revolutions of the early years of the 20th century, the Soviet Union grew again to be a great power. Today its successor state, Russia, is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, an energy superpower, the worldÂs largest country, and possessor of the worldÂs largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. From the ÂRussian Scares of the 1880s onwards, the activities of this mighty state have been significant to New Zealanders. The Russian Revolutions covers the period leading up to the revolutions of 1917, and the Civil War and leadership of Lenin, for students studying for NCEA level 2. It continues into the period of StalinÂs rule, for those studying the CIE curriculum, and it goes a bit further in time for those students interested in the historical antecedents of current events.
